Benjamin ZIX (1772-1811) Prince Louis-Ferdinand of Prussia shot by the marshal of the Houses Guindey during the battle of Saalfeld, October 9, 1806 Black stone, feather and brown wash, monogrammed lower right "BZ" Described on the back of the frame, old label : "Battle of Saalfeld/9 October 1806/ Prince Louis of Prussia, nephew of the great Frederick, was killed by a non-commissioned officer of the 10th Regt of Hussars named: Guindet (sic)./Signed :BZ (Benjamin Zix) (10 June 1808) was woodcut by C.Hegi in the Calendar ((Der Stinkende Bottam Rhein)) (Strassburg bei Silbermann)" and "The uniform of the 10th Hussars was blue with all white trimmings". 16 x 26.6 cm.
