Molded, carved and gilded wood folding chair, the twisted uprights carved with volutes and channels, the seat with mobile cushion. Louis XV period. Garnet silk upholstery. (Chips in the gilding, small restorations and worm holes). Dimensions with the cushion : H. 50 cm. L. : 78 cm. P. : 50 cm. Provenance: Galerie J. Kugel, Paris. Christie's Paris, February 25, 2009, Yves Saint Laurent - Pierre Bergé Collection, lot 724. A similar model, stamped Foliot, is now kept at the Château de Versailles (Inv. V4145, donation Boisrouvray). Of Parisian construction, it presents a structure composed of two superimposed branches and not embedded one in the other. Bibliography : PALLOT, Bill G.
